AppleInsiderでは、スティーブ・ジョブズ氏が、Appleの共同創設者の一人であるスティーブ・ウォズニアック氏に電話して、「iPhone」を土曜日に届けると申し出たとのことですが、ウォズニアック氏は、子供たちの分も含めすぐに欲しいため並んで購入すると述べ、ジョブズ氏の申し出を断ったと伝えています。MacNNでは、スティーブ・ウォズニアック氏は、カリフォルニア州サンタクララのApple Store Valley Fairで、午前3時30分から先頭で並んでいると伝えています。また、Digg.comの創設者であるケビン・ローズ氏もApple Store Palo Altoで並んでいるとのことです。

Waiting with Woz for the iPhone

iPhone countdown: Today's the day. Here on the West Coast, we're just hours away from the 6 p.m. release of Apple's all-in-one video iPod/Internet and e-mail device/mobile phone. On the East Coast, iPhone fans have less than an hour to wait.
Here in Silicon Valley, the center of the iPhone universe, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak took the honorary No. 1 spot in line at the 60-Second Business Break's Apple store of choice - the one at Westfield Valley Fair mall in San Jose (even though the Apple Web site claims it's in Santa Clara).
"Look how great the iPod turned out," Woz told our friends at the Associated Press this morning. "So who wants to miss that revolution? That's why there's all this big hype for the iPhone."

Where else but in Silicon Valley would two of Apple's biggest icons help launch the iPhone?
In a surprise appearance, Apple co-founder and current Chief Executive Steve Jobs waltzed into the Apple Store on University Avenue in Palo Alto to greet buyers Friday night. And about 19 miles away, at Westfield Valley Fair mall, Apple's other co-founder, Steve Wozniak, had gotten in line at 4 a.m., handing out iPhone T-shirts to mark the event. The man known as Woz was given the No. 1 spot in line by earlier arrivals.
"I think this is going to be revolutionary," Wozniak said.
He wasn't alone. Apple fans nationwide lined up at both Apple and AT&T stores to be one of the first to own the combination phone, Web browser and music player. By 8 p.m., AT&T reported it was running out of phones at some stores but couldn't specify where. Apple did not comment.
Hyped for months - even years - the iPhone is built around a large, touch-sensitive screen, which takes the place of a physical keypad. Apple's Jobs and a coterie of analysts, consumers and enthusiasts have predicted the device will change the cell phone industry as much as Apple's Macintosh computers and iPod players changed the PC and music businesses.
For many, to finally have an iPhone in hand was a nice payoff after a long day - or more - of waiting. Consumers started to form lines at Bay Area stores as early as Wednesday morning.
At the Apple store on University Avenue in Palo Alto, Robert Scoble, a famous blogger and former Microsoft employee, and his son Patrick, 13, were the first two standing in line Thursday. When Patrick finally walked out of the store with iPhone in hand he told the crowd the experience was worth the effort.
"It's mine!" he said, later describing the experience as "just awesome, running through the store, getting high-fives from employees."
