　チームカラーのオレンジ塗装のF16でオランダ領空内から帰国便をエスコート
という話だったけど
　かなり気合いの入った塗装でお出迎え
した様子が、オランダ空軍のサイトにばっちり展開されている。

Special Report

Monday the 12th on July the team had a special assignment to take care of. The soccer world cup had ended the day before unfortunately for the Dutch team by ending up second. Nonetheless this achievement still is excellent and the national team deserves a special treatment! For this reason, a lot of coordination between the Royal Netherlands Air Force, KLM and Dutch air traffic control had been put together by our Godfather, Ed. Eventually all people involved had finalized the coordination and we could set up for our assignment: Escorting the Dutch National Soccer-team from the moment they would enter Dutch airspace until landing at Schiphol airport.

The weather forecast for the end of the afternoon was very bad. A line of severe thunderstorms was passing through the country which was reason for some concern. Fortunately the weather passed through sooner then expected and at 1620 local time Hitec and Mids took off from Leeuwarden for this very special flight. Mids was flying a dual-seater with our air force photographer, Erik Vorstenbosch in the backseat. Around 1700 local time the KLM 777 appeared on our radar and was greeted minutes after. Once joined with the 777, Hitec had the honor of saying a few words to the people in the cabin. A lot of cameras were seen taking pictures of the orange lion!

perfectly clear skies in between two systems of heavy shower activity. Since the weather was so nice, the formation stayed together all the way until KLM flight 596 landed after the F-16´s went on the go back to Leeuwarden.

We were happy and honored to participate in such a special flight and hope that we contributed something positive to the occasion!
